Founder Director, Folkartopedia; Archive of Folk Arts—an initiative of the Folkartopedia Foundation—and founder of Bihar’s first art education start-up, FoCarts India OPC Pvt. Ltd., Patna.

Celebration of Folk Traditions, 2025 (the first national exhibition of Folk Arts
in Bihar), Patna edition; LOKA, 2025 (the first national exhibition of Folk Arts in Jharkhand), Ranchi edition.

Achievements:

Recipient of the Senior Fellowship (2021–2022) for Outstanding Persons in
the Fields of Culture, Ministry of Culture, Government of India; SRF, Sahapedia–UNESCO Fellowship (2017); Research Grant under the ICH Programme, Sangeet Natak Akademi, New Delhi (2014–15); Folk Arts Research Grant, Sangeet Natak Akademi, New Delhi (2015–16); Recipient of the Dinkar Yuva Puraskar under Bihar Kala Samman, Government of Bihar (2017–18), in the field of visual art writing.

Cultural activist working in the field of folk, traditional, and tribal arts; art archivist and art researcher. Has undertaken extensive documentation of the folk arts of Bihar.

Media:

Over 17 years of experience in mainstream media, associated with Rashtriya Sahara, Sahara Samay, India News, Omega Broadcast Limited, ZMCL, and other media houses. Former Assistant Editor, Kala Canvas magazine; former Editor, artnewsweekly.com. Has written Op-eds extensively on art and politics for almost all major Hindi newspapers in mainstream media.

Born and brought up in Patna, Sunil Kumar completed his honours in History.
